Meet the Publisher

Dr. Shirley Sims is a proud autism mom, Certified Autism Specialist, community leader, and passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities and their families. Her passion is creating inclusive communities where individuals of all abilities feel seen, valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Recognized throughout South Florida for her leadership, community service, and commitment to creating meaningful change, Dr. Sims has dedicated her career to strengthening organizations, developing leaders, and building initiatives that positively impact families and communities.

As publisher of Uniquely You Broward & Palm Beach, Dr. Sims shares authentic stories that celebrate the achievements, resilience, and everyday experiences of individuals with disabilities. Built on purpose and genuine connection, the publication connects families with trusted providers, businesses, and community organizations that serve with compassion and integrity. For partners, it offers more than advertising exposure, it is mission-driven marketing that builds visibility, strengthens trust, and creates lasting community relationships.

Dr. Sims co-authored the children’s book My Sparkle, My Way: Autism & Acceptance and is also a co-author of Leading with a Growth Mindset: Unlocking Your Potential. Her commitment to advocacy extends beyond the written word. She serves on several nonprofit boards throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties and as Chair of the Autism Speaks Palm Beach Empower Walk & 5K Run.

Dr. Sims has received numerous accolades for her leadership and community service. Recently, in 2026, the City of Tamarac presented Dr. Sims and her daughter, Kali, with a proclamation recognizing their work to advance inclusion and autism acceptance.

Beyond her professional and community work, Dr. Sims is the proud mother of Maurice and Kali and she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
